There is nothing quite so titillating, tormenting, or troublesome as the promise of the universe. Its potentially infinite possibilities create in me a burning for immortality - not existence in heaven or some other place, no. I want to be here, in our universe. I want the chance to plumb the depths of the space in front of my eyes. I want to fill my head with the knowledge of nature. I understand where gods came from and I realize they serve a purpose. I just dont understand why theyre required. I dont understand how anyone could think that what we have surrounding is is not enough. What more could anyone want than the continuum between quantum mechanics and the expanse of deep space? We have a place - no deity need to assign us one. We have a paradise - no benevolent dictator could prevent us from destroying it. We have math, breath, and love - what is there but to discover, communicate, and serve one another?
