There is only one thing worse than being outraged: Its being outraged with no viable solutions in sight. This morning I spoke with my electric provider about my most recent electric bill. It was well over double the last months bill. As $631.00, I was more than shell shocked. Seems that our electric company, Liberty Utilities, successfully lobbied for a rather significant rate increase. We got the letter back a few months ago that said the winter rate increase would be from November - April. How they can call a SIX MONTH winter a winter rate increase is beyond me. Winters are cold here in NH, and sometimes they are long, but they dont last for half a year. Lets add a bit of salt to the wound, shall we? We were selected by Liberty Utilities to attend a FREE energy savings workshop. As a show of appreciation for our attendance, they offer to give us ONE FREE LIGHT BULB. Go you! As our conversation wound down, the Liberty Utilities representative signed off with a telling comment. I am now afraid to open my own electric bill, she shared.
