There is so much to say about this article of news. It is said that those that live in glass houses should never throw stones. A great lesson that Governor Sanusi should pay heed to, if I may add. However, in contrast, it is also easy to give false impressions by manipulating facts or giving incomplete facts by using slight of hand methods to imply to someone listening or watching, that someone is throwing a stone and it is not so. This is what this article by reporter Haminu Abubakar has done. The base or objective of his article is to make a point out of the facts relating to the misappropriation or missing funds valued at $20 billion (American dollars) from the federal account by the National Nigerian Petroleum Corporation. Which, he, reporter Abubakar immediately shifts by claiming that Governor Sanusi is a thief. He based this claim that Governor Sanusi is a thief by making allegations that the Governor used unauthorized appropriations by giving grants to high level elected officials, in particular to the opposition party. Well there are couple of points I want to make about reporter Abubakars claim. First, there is a extreme difference between someone giving someone a grant to someone believing to be stealing money. Secondly, historically the CBN or the Governor has given grants before, even before Governor Sanusi.. And, they have given them to different entities, Isnt this so. I mean such has happened before and it is known about and accepted. This being said, let us look at other facts made by Mr. Abubakar. He said these grants were in the sums between N100 million to N1billion. Well quite naturally this is a handsome sum of money. But the money thats being allegedly being stolen is $20 billion American dollars. An amount that pales in value to grants that the Governor has allegedly made. In fact, N1 billion, it look likes like a tip to a waiter given at a restaurant compared to $20 billion American dollars. There is no comparison in value of $20 billion American dollars in value to N20 billion. The point is, is the Governor a thief? Did he still money or did he give money away. The answer is no. He did not steal. If he did, the President did not make such a claim. So let us talk about the money Let us start with Nira, that was stolen or misappropriated valued at or worth $20 billion American dollars. Now talk.
