There is some positive news at the end of this article, regarding the EU Legal committe who actually voted against the legislation. It is very likely the legislation is illegal, and the opinion of Sir Francis Jacob QC will hold alot of weight. He says it is "contrary to the principle of proportionality", which basically means it is like taking a sledge hammer to crack an egg. So the vote by the EU legal committee is very positive news.
