There is some truth to her claims. Healthier nutritional options are more expensive. But there are several things one can do on a small budget: 1. Go meatless; 2. Apples and bananas as snacks; 3. Drink plenty of water instead of soda and juice; 4. Run/Walk/Take stairs; 5. Swap in whole grains instead of white starches. Limit breads, rice, and potatoes; 6. No eating after 7pm; 7. Eat more cucumbers and celery and cabbage and carrots. These are all inexpensive but still nutritious vegetable; 8. Use Almond milk or skim instead of whole cows milk; 9. Reduce fried food intake. Instead bake or steam; 10. Use little to no animal fats. That means butter, mayo, milk, cheeses; 11. Limit sauces; 12. Choose food with less fat, salt, and sugar, more fiber: 13. Prepare lite and low-cal snacks and foods and keep them handy as grab-n-eats. When we are hungry, we do not care how fattening the food is, we want it NOW. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY Cut SUGAR intake. SUGAR is the REAL culprit.
