There is something about time with God in the early morning Before the events of the day steal our attention, Ere we join the craziness of the world, To meet at his feet, with our praise and adoration of just who He is. Our minds are clearer then We have not yet be drawn away in heart and soul to other less important things. We are not hurried, cluttered, wasted by the life we live It is just him and me, alone, honest, open. Is that the reason we so often fail to come to this place? Is it the honesty? The quiet? The clearness with which we see how far from the ideal we really come? Or is it that in this quiet, we have to listen to Him talk to us? It is so much easier to pray on the fly To hurriedly read Our Daily Bread for a thought we call a devotion But where is the devotion to Him in such an exercise? All too often we are Martha with our hurried pace, not Mary who sat at his feet. A poet says so well what I am thinking about this time: Pray for my soul. More things are wrought by prayer Than this world dreams of. Wherefore, let thy voice Rise like a fountain for me night and day. For what are people better than sheep or goats That nourish a blind life within the brain, If, knowing God, they lift not hands of prayer Both for themselves and those who call them friends? For so the whole round earth is every way Bound by gold chains about the feet of God. Alfred Lord Tennyson Things bound to the feet of God are usually done during these wonderful times in the early hours at the throne of God.
