There is something mystical about Varanasi....though, Kashi and Varanasi are twin cities, the former tracing its antiquity, hoary and glorious, to Lord Shiva whereas the latter deriving its name from river Varuna...its said that Kashi is known for its labyrinth lanes which are, miraculously, throbbing with life, bulls, which are a common site on roads but no one hits them to make them leave the road but persuade , the eternal Ganges whose origin is entwined with our glorious civilisation rather our civilisation derives its vitality and lastly, Lord Shiva...roaming around the city leaves one literally wonder as to from where it derives its pulsating life...jostling crowd pursuing their livelihood without there being any maladjustment.....oh! The description would be incomplete without betel leaves which make the walls red..roaming around the ghats, one is struck by as to how life is celebrated in all its forms...even death at Manikarni Ghat ,where the fire of pyre never douses, is something enviable...Ganga Aarti, invoking the origin, steeped into historicity and chanting the mantras to seek its blessings is something which leaves one awestruck...gasping for breadth as the surroundings is filled with divine presence....One can see order of life in the chaotic schedule...though, filth and hygiene is gigantic concern but for locals, its a part of life who dont grumble but have made adjustment....indomitable human spirit...
