There is still space available: Crisis Simulation Set for Nov. 8 CONFERENCE FOCUSES ON CRISIS PREPAREDNESS, ASKS TOUGH QUESTIONS MOUNT OLIVE, N.J. – Was your business stronger than the storm? How is your life after Sandy? What would you do differently? “The one year anniversary of Hurricane Sandy serves as a grim reminder of the devastating effects that a major storm – or any crisis -- can have on our lives,” says Fred Detoro, Jr., Emergency Management Coordinator for Mount Olive Township. Organized by the Township of Mount Olive, the Mount Olive Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Givaudan Community Advisory Panel, the Crisis Command and Preparedness Simulation (CCAPS) conference will be held on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013 at Mt. Olive Middle School, Wolfe Road, Budd Lake, N.J. “Come and see a crisis simulation unravel in your own backyard,” adds Detoro. “This is a golden opportunity for organizations and residents in our area to get better prepared.” Under the supervision of a seasoned trainer, local businesses, hospitals and schools will work side-by-side during a “crisis” with state, county and local officials, utilizing a large scale tabletop model of the community and a customized disaster scenario. Experts will review Incident Management Systems and the process that businesses and emergency responders need to know when a crisis occurs, including the hierarchy of emergency command. Break-out sessions will focus on a variety of topics, including Crisis Planning 101, Lessons Learned from Hurricane Sandy, and Using Social Media in an Emergency. Throughout the day, attendees will be given real tools to help them plan and manage a crisis more effectively. Sponsors of the CCAPS conference include Classic Café, Critical Moments, Givaudan, Hackettstown Regional Medical Center, Mount Olive Board of Education, Mount Olive Health Department, Motion KIA of Mount Olive, Paragon Village, Rockefeller Group, Sam’s Club, Siemens, and Veolia Environmental Services. The media sponsor is WRNJ. For more than a decade, the Givaudan Community Advisory Panel has worked to facilitate communication and foster positive working relationships among the businesses and citizens who reside or work in the greater Mount Olive Township area, producing award-winning programs that focus on local emergency response planning and crisis management. The panel members include representatives from the Atlantic Health Services, CB Richard Ellis Real Estate Services, Mount Olive Police Department, Mount Olive Township Fire Safety, Mount Olive Child Care and Learning Center, Mount Olive Public Library, the Township of Mount Olive, and Veolia Environmental Services. CCAPS conference attendance is $25 per person, including lunch, and pre-registration is required. For more information and to register, visit the Mount Olive Area Chamber of Commerce website, e-mail emergencysimulation@gmail or call (201) 486-3729,. Limited seating is available.
