There just isnt any pleasing some people. Our PM puts measured, sensible precautions in place before committing to a response to the Ebola problem in Africa and now has a fallback position in the event of a volunteer becoming ill, and what do we get from the rabble? Why do I get the feeling that Tanya Plibersek would actually welcome sending volunteers, but NOT her, into harms way without adequate protections? What is her end-game? Does she want an outbreak here? Would she use it against the Government? I think so, I think she would, but then, nothing she said or did would surprise me. “It is a little surprising to know that, despite the availability and the desire of these Australians to go to West Africa to fight this virus at its source, that they won’t be facilitated by this announcement,” deputy opposition leader Tanya Plibersek said. “What we know is that Australian health workers are some of the best and most dedicated, most highly skilled in the world. We also know there are hundreds who have said they want to go. This announcement, while welcome, doesn’t answer that call.” Britain, America and African countries, as well as the United Nations, have been asking Australia for assistance to fight Ebola over the last two months.
