There lives within each of us two selves i.e. the ego & the I. The ego is the spoiled, petulant, clamorous child in us. The I is our personality made to the image and likeness of God. The lives of the two selves cannot live simultaneously; if we attempt to do so, we suffer remorse, anxiety and inner dissatisfaction. If we wish to find our true freedom within ourselves, the ego must yield itself to the birth of our true personality. When the ego dominates our lives, we blame little faults in others and excuse great offences in ourselves i.e. we see the speck in our neighbours eye and not the beam in our own. Here are typical examples: -we wrong others and deny that there is any guilt, others do the same wrong to us and we say they should have known better -we flatter others because of what they can do for us and call it love -we lie to them and call it tact -we judge others and say that we are facing the facts -we resent the wealth of others and call ourselves defenders of the downtrodden -we want so much to be loved that we forget to love. These are the temptations to which we are all prone to when we allow the ego in us to become supreme. Our Lord warned us: do not judge others or you yourself will be judged. How can we say she is jealous unless we already knew in our hearts how it felt to be jealous When I read this I just felt like sharing it, opening up our minds, it sure opened mine, I hope this inspires others the way it inspired me tonight..
