There was a group of people at the Monterey farmers market today who were, as their signs read, morning over the dead Gazans. I thought that was fair--I should morn too over their tragedy. Its horrible, unimaginably horrible no doubt. But then I thought, why are Gazans any more worth morning for than anyone else? In fact I should, if I had such humanity, morn over every person killed in the us on the news. What is their objective then if they ignore that fact that men women and children are being killed by the hundreds by the Syrian government, yet they do not put on such display. If I wasnt with company I would have said- Be for humanitarianism but dont use peoples deaths as a double standard propaganda effort to make Israel look bad. Collateral damage is collateral damage nothing more. Furthermore, Bill Maher says it best in this video, whos fault is it really? I dont understand how those people are not outraged at Hamas, and Hamas only.
