There was a thriving Chinese community in Assam, Makum -- who had been living in India for centuries and considered themselves very much Indian but they were interned after the 1962 war with China. They were very much Indian in their attitude and loyalty but were questioned about their allegiance. After their bitter experience in 1962 , a lot of them migrated to Hong Kong and fomed Assamese Chinese Association in Hong Kong..
