There will be about 35 RFS personal heading to Smiths Lake Tuesday 3rd September to carry out Hazard Reduction in the Village of Smiths Lake being. The hazard reduction burn will be conduct between Paradise Drive, Macwood Road, Mathew Road and Tropic Gardens Drive; Crews will be meeting at Pacific Palms station for a briefing before heading to the fire ground to commence burning at around 9am. Of course this hazard reduction all depends on weather and if conditions are not suitable on the day it will be postpone to weather conditions suite. We advise residents in Smiths Lake to take appropriate precaution: Keep doors and windows closed, remove washing from the line and make sure pets are in protected area. Motorists in the area should slow down and take care if driving through smoke, keep windows up and turn their headlights on.
