Therefore I hated life, because the work that is done under the sun was grievous to me , for all is vanity and vexation of spirit. I also hated all my labor which I took under the sun, seeing that I had to leave it unto the man that shall be after me. Who knows whether he will be wise or foolish ? However , have rule over all my labor in which I performed and showed myself wise under the sun : this also is vanity . So I volvi me and gave my heart to despair of all the labor which I took under the sun . Because there is a man whose labor is in wisdom , knowledge, and skill , yet leave his job as a portion of whom it did not work : this also is vanity and a great evil . For what hath man of all his labor , and of the vexation of his heart, wherein he hath labored under the sun ? For all his days are sorrows , and his occupation is woe; until tonight does not rest his heart : this is also vanity. There is nothing better for man than to eat and drink , and make his soul enjoy good in his labor . I also saw that it comes from the hand of God. For who can eat or who can have enjoyment better than me ? Because the man who is good before him , God gives wisdom and knowledge and joy: but to the sinner he gives work to assemble it , and to heap up , to give you what is good before God . This also is vanity and vexation of spirit .
