Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. (James 5:16) Ive known some real prayer warriors in my life...mostly women...who have believed this verse so strongly, that nothing could keep them from their prayer closet.They knew Gods promises. They counted on each one. They believed Hebrews 11:6 - ...without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him - so they kept on seeking him in prayer. Ive seen the evidence of the faithful prayers of others in Kens and my life and the lives of our children. The power and effectiveness of prayer cannot be exaggerated. The other testimony to the effectiveness of prayer is the great effort Satan makes to distract me from it. It is so difficult to develop the habit. I shoot tiny peas of prayer at the Lord throughout my day. But real, concerted, knee-bending conversation is a rare occurrence. It took me a long time to develop the habit of morning devotions and now I cant imagine starting my day in any other way. Next, I want to be one of those real prayer warriors...to develop the indomitable habit of falling before the Throne of Grace in complete trust and utter surrender. I want to set aside my pea shooter and get down to the business of seeking God in the beautiful privilege of prayer. Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire? (Corrie Ten Boom)
