Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, FOR HE CARES FOR YOU. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. (I Peter 5:6-9 NKJV) Does anybody care? Its a question that seeps into our minds. Fatigue, grief, lifes difficulties have made a crack in our fortress, and without our permission questions come that we had never had before. How do we seal the cracks and reestablish ourselves? First, we need to remind ourselves God cares. Peter tells us to throw all of our problems on God. Just as Peter, a fisherman by trade, threw fishing nets into the sea with all his might, we must cast our cares on God. He cares when nobody seems to care. Fortunately, He is the only one who always has the power to intervene in our lives anyway. Life is hard, but God cares. Secondly, we must resist our enemy. He is seeking to destroy us, and he usually starts with a question. He worked that way with Eve in the garden. He still is using that method effectively. For that reason, we must be vigilant. We should not just ignore the cracks in our walls; we should quickly mend them with the promises of Gods Word. We must keep ourselves strong in our faith. I once read a quote from Joyce Meyers which has impacted my life when I am faced with hard times. (I am paraphrasing here, because I do not have the source readily available right now. However, the source is her book A LEADER IN THE MAKING.) You can be pitiful or you can be powerful. You cant be both. The choice is yours. I must choose to fortify my faith. I must choose to stand strong on His promises. I must choose to believe God cares. No trouble, no matter how vast or strong, can separate me from Gods love. In the darkness of the early morning, I choose to trust my God who cares. Others care too; but if nobody did, I can firmly plant my whole life on my loving Fathers care. I am casting all my cares on Him. Why? HE CARES FOR ME. Thats really all that matters.
