Theres a bunch of stuff happening at the Alutiiq Museum this weekend: Tonight is First Friday! June Pardue is in the house, all the way from Sutton! Come say hello and buy some jewelry and art for those peeps on your xmas list that need something special. Where else can you find beaded salmon leather earrings?! Tomorrow, June is hosting a beading workshop. Our last workshop at the museum with Jim Miller was a-maz-ing. Everyone left with their own piece of jewelry they made themselves. Junes workshop promises to be stellar, too, as everyone will create a beaded cabochon pendent. There are a few spots available, so call the museum tonight by 7:00pm to get registered: 486-7004. $25 covers all the materials. The workshop starts brightish and early at 9:30am. Ill be there and so should you! Also tomorrow: bring your kids, or borrow someone elses kids, to the museum at 12:30pm for some gingerbread ornament making! Maryas baked up dozens of blank gingerbread people ready to be decorated with Alutiiq style parkas and dance regalia. Shes supplying everything needed to make an ornament, so you just need to show up and have fun! This is a great way for the whole family to learn about Kodiaks traditional clothing design. (Also also: The Baranov Museum down the street is having photos with Father Christmas in the morning, so make it a days event to hit both museums!)
