Theres a lot of good to be said about small town Texas. And theres a lot of good to be said about Texas grit, that stubbornness that usually acts like perseverance to get the impossible done, but is truly not perseverance. Its stubbornness. Throughout a "gays, blacks, and womens rights" conversation that was sparked by a news announcement of all things, I have come to learn that the handful of people I work with are close minded bigots. And im used to that, but im not used to the idea of not exploring something in a friendly debate. To be shut down with the same quickness and determination I sometime do to others. That southern grit gone bad. I disagree so strongly with their absolutely adamant beliefs that it bugs me. Perhaps I am a city boy, I always cconsidered myself half and half. Either way, a rare inescapable feeling washed over me today. Where you close your eyes and just want to go home. But then you open them and realize --even if you sold the house and car today and jumped on a bus which is no big deal-- None of your adventures thus far have revealed to you a place where home is. And true happiness is always a fleeting thing, comprised of different ingredients daily. But being reserved, my opinions to myself and holding back anything in anything I do has never been me. And as such its not susceptible to happiness. -- feeling calm and philosophical
