Theres a meme thats been going around for a while asking what I would rid the world of if I could. I dont really like operating from that mindset, however all the normal stuff came up. War, poverty, disease, natural disasters, hate etc. etc. etc. ad naseum. But after my last trip to Costco, I think Ive come up with mine-- Professional sports. Seriously. All through the aisles and at the counter the conversations were centered on the Denver sportsing guys not scoring as many credits as the sportsing guys from somewhere else and how poorly the Denver sportsing guys didnt sport as well as they should sport and that perhaps their sportsing leader is done effectively sportsing in sports. And all I can think is how the 76,125 sportsing followers who paid God-know-how-much to cram into the sports stadium to watch overpaid sportsing guys sport around, and the advertising revenue generated from that single sportsing thing, could have fed the entire population of Mali for a year. SMH. American priorities. Foo. And its like Im not a real Coloradoan if I dont care. Even our church is a sea of orange jerseys on Sunday. Ill stick to the shirt-and-tie, thank you very much. Not judging. We all have our hobbies. But sheesh....if people were as loyal to their spouses as they were to their local sportsing teams, thered never be a divorce!
