Theres a song Hero in Harlan by Tom T Hall that I think of every year this time. It was written in such a way that yo can easily change the words of the community to fit yours. Len and I both sing it every once in awhile but thought wed share it on here after seeing the names of all the young country men -in some cases boys on the Cenotaph in Harcourt. A grey silver casket rolls off of the airplane, The Red and the White draped over the lid. Inside is the body of our little brother. They say hes a soldier, but hes just a kid. Well, were here to take him back to old Kent County Where he will be buried in our family plot.
