Theres a very easy way for the South to secede. Put a referendum on the ballot. If the majority of the citizens in those states want to secede, then theres something to take to Congress. At that point, Congress will take a vote. Im sure that the red states can get enough blue state senators and representatives to hold the door open for them to leave. Well have to move NASA to Hawaii, and youll need a passport for Disney World, but itll be great fun to watch the red states discover how taxes really work. Id vote for the Souths right to secede if they did it through legal channels. Although ... Im not sure if I want a third world nation on our doorstep. And then theres the other problem -- the inevitable war between Texas and Mexico that would follow. Could the US stay uninvolved with a war so close to our borders?
