Theres been someone ignorant enough to say along the lines of Ive worked with a lot of disabled people. Youre not autistic, youre arrogant/an asshole. First off, Im direct. You probably deal with people more rude or arrogant than me daily, though you accept that about them, because you know they intend to be. Second, theres really NO REASON for someone whos ARROGANT to say they have a developmental disorder, its to say theyre not perfect or important. Also, theres no reason to reason for someone whos an asshole to claim their autistic. If ones an asshole, its because they either enjoy upsetting people, or dont care what people think. Claiming to be autistic does NOTHING for EITHER of these points. In the end, if someone states they have a autism, its probably because they trust you, or they simply want some patience with them. Telling someone you hardly know that theyre using their disability as an excuse, and to conform, is about the same as telling a toothless grandparent to chew a steak, because you see nothing wrong with their mouth. Even if you think they can, just dont go there. Who are you to judge?
