Theres no doubt in my mind that Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu always means well; but methinks hes somewhat naive to persist with his (The TRC) thinking that only people who physically lost loved ones, or were tortured and jailed, are victims of apartheid. In his thinking: The (TRC proposed) wealth tax would have made our economic situation different today and the rich (whites? Everyone rich?) agreed to paying it. Accordingly, only the (relatively handful) victims of apartheid would then benefit over a period of six years from an annual R20, 000 grant, funded by this wealth tax. How in the world would this have improved the economy of South Africa? Besides, we may not all carry physical scars because of apartheid, but THAT madness of a system certainly messed us all up!
