Theres nothing noble about being a menial laborer. These people demanding a raise in the minimum wage at fast food places are delusional. Their jobs require zero skills outside of avoiding slipping into a coma. There are many variables and reasons why its too expensive to live on low wages in this country, a lot of it having to do with state interference in the housing industry. Working at McDonalds even if you try your best to do a good job is not noble, that job and many like it are soul crushing and not rewarding. But people who must work these jobs (such as myself currently) like to envision themselves as somebody with dignity and honor, courageously delivering our mass produced cooked pink slime to our car windows like Leonidas killing loads of CGI beasts. The truth most of our jobs suck and are demeaning, they crush out whats left of our vitality from watching Real Housewives of Atlanta and Duck Dynasty. But most people are already doomed to be these menial laborers because of lack of opportunity as a youth, genetic stupidity, cultivated stupidity, and laziness. I work temp jobs currently and they suck but its a means to an end for me. If you want escape your life of being a person who simply exists and not lives you have to have a vision and work hard to achieve it. Even if you give everything to achieve it the truth is that it might not happen. But do that instead of having five kids with your only skills being putting hamburgers together and stop striking for wages you dont deserve. Because honestly the service at these fast food places are shitty, people dont want to be there and they make sure you know it.
