Theres one in every crowd! Saw an editorial of sorts today. The writers premise that the verse that says I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me! is often(if not always) misused! He went on to say that people always use it as a motivating positive message. He correctly pointed out that Paul was in prison when he wrote that famous line, and that he was thanking God for getting him though a really tough time. Now, everything he said was correct. My question is, has anyone read the Bible(or portions of it) and said to themselves...What a positive, uplifting book! And not thought from time to time, What a bummer! That must have been horrible! Indeed, the Bible is the most uplifting, encouraging, life changing book(or Books)ever written, and yet much of the Bible is describing terrible struggle! I think the problem with this is, why would anyone feel the need to explain to everyone that the Bible is not as positive as they might think? Ill admit that many teach only the Glory and never the Trials and Tribulations but seriously, isnt this a bit like telling someone who was just saved by a Lifeguard that They just did it for the money!? I think the only difference between us and Paul is that we use Pauls words before the test! Paul used them in the middle of the test. With that in mind, isnt that the whole point of the Bible? To allow us to get the revelation before the test so we have faith and confidence going in? I find that this is one of my Pet Peeves People in the Christian Community who think its their responsibility to save the rest of us from trusting in the Lord too much! or to keep us from committing the ultimate sin of being too positive! Balance is good but I honestly dont thing the majority of humanity has the problem of being to positive! I guess thats it for today. Be blessed beyond measure, pressed down, and running over...but dont make a mess! Peace & Love! :)
