Thereve been many posts about why were out of school tomorrow - some thoughtful and some not so much. I wanted to share my response to one of those posts because Superintendent Webber and his staff work tirelessly on behalf of our kids. Please remember that ... We are blessed in Sterlington and in OPSS to have the quality of schools that we have, but not all districts are so blessed. More important in the decision to close schools due to weather is our students. We are not only charged with their education but with their safety. There may not be any snow or ice on the ground but long bus rides, sometimes inadequate clothing or inadequate heating on buses and risky early morning conditions are only a few reasons not to risk even one child. Our leaders make informed tough decisions- popular or not to keep my kids and your kids safe.
