There’s so much corruption in the media so that whenever I read the news, these days I’ve become more concerned about parent company information of news organizations/website. I am interested in knowing names and political affiliations of the directors of these parent company and what additional investments they have, and where. The problem is that getting this information is very difficult. Takes too much Internet digging. I have a life so I can’t be digging all the time. Who for instance knew that the black-themed website The Root was owned by The Washington Post. And since the monopolistic-advancing Amazon, which has been buying up everything—from publishing networks to GoodReads—now owns The Washington Post, it means The Root continues to be parented by hands owned by corporate driven viewpoints. (I rarely find The Root insightful anyway; but many people do, so I used it as reference). Readers need to look at the business, cultural, and identity agendas that form the philosophy of parent companies. That discovery often sheds light on the extent, limitations, and value of the news we consume. How can we just consume information without understanding how it’s cooked? To what extent are we being slowly poisoned?
