There’s something great about spontaneity, isn’t there? - TopicsExpress

There’s something great about spontaneity, isn’t there? Don’t get me wrong. I love having scheduled times and I think that’s so important. But some of the best times I have enjoyed are spontaneous—deciding in the moment to do something fun! God likes spontaneity as well. Yes, He loves it when you praise Him at your normally scheduled time during your weekend church service, but He also treasures those moments you erupt with praise and thanksgiving to Him … simply because of who He is to you! This type of thanksgiving is communicated by the Hebrew word, tehillah, which means to sing God’s praises spontaneously. Tehillah is the kind of praise described in Psalm 22:3, which says God is “… enthroned in the praises (tehillah) of Israel.” What this verse tells us is that as we sing spontaneously, whether it be in the car, as we go about our daily routines, or even in the shower, God draws near to us as we enthrone Him in our hearts through our praise. Daily life can take you far from God because it can sometimes be so mundane. So stay close to God throughout your week by praising God spontaneously. It could be as simple as just singing “I love you” repeatedly as you go about your business. Or perhaps you break into a song of worship while you drive home from work. Whatever you do to praise God spontaneously, God will respond by drawing near and becoming a bigger part of your daily focus!
