While it might look like harmless fun, those who fall for it are actually contributing to cybercriminal schemes. The Dangers These are force-to-share videos and Facebook like/share’ scams. These scams will increase hits to criminals websites & Facebook pages which boosts their value, trick you into liking & sharing content without you realising & once its on your wall your friends then get tricked also and sometimes these scams download malware to your computer or device & some have you completing surveys, stealing your email for spam, taking passwords, information etc, all of these things criminals are making money from! Many variations of these fake links exist, the videos change but the way to detect them remains the same. If these posts appear on your Facebook Wall/Timeline DO NOT click on them. How To Spot Them Nearly always these scams have [SHOCKING! VIDEO], [EXCLUSIVE! VIDEO]. [HORROR!], [MUST SEE! VIDEO] or other sensationalised title. When you click on these scam links you get redirected to another website often fake Facebook style sites. These websites only contains an image the Facebook interface you see if not real, only a screenshot of a page to make you believe you are still on Facebook. Non of the buttons or links are real & comments also just part of the image used & text can not be copied or comments liked etc. Here are the clues to spot a fake scam video. Once you click share the scam then appears on your wall, tricking your friends. First they will get you to like their page (Do Not) Then they will force you to share before you an proceed to a video that does not exist. What To Do Avoid clicking on these links (if your really curious, search for the video on Youtube directly, if you cant find it, its because the video does not exist) If you find you have already shared the video on your wall DELETE IT as soon as possible or your friends will be tricked also! Check your recent likes also check your activity log to see which pages and photos have been liked on your behalf. Then, simply unlike them. Scan your computer with a good anti-virus/spyware program straight away!
