These are cupcakes for the wild birds. I am putting this on here because I know so many of you love your birds and this is really good in the winter for Cardinals, finches, woodpeckers and really all of them. The squirrels will get them if you let them. Melt 1 cup shortening and 2 cups of chunky peanut butter over low heat, then mix in 5 cups of yellow cornmeal. Fill cupcake tins and top with your choice of nuts, birdseed or dried berries. Cook in the refrigerator. After they are cooled I put in plastic baggie to store. I put one or two at a time for the birds. NOTE: In this batch I added a few raisins in the mix (mockingbirds love them) and I added bird seed, chopped apples and cranberries. I gently press them down in the top of the cupcakes. Note: I buy the store brand shortening, peanut butter and cornmeal. Get the cheapest you can buy. The birds wont know the difference.
