These prominent buildings at the corner of Lawrence Hill with Leadhouse Lane(R) were demolished during the 1960s, for the Lawrence Hill roundabout. They included, from left to right: a glimpse of St Lawrence church, the Glasshouse pub, once the homes for Ruby Helder, the world famous tenor and the Bristol Homing(Pigeon) Federation’s HQ ! & finally the rank of modernised shop façades for the Central Premises of the Bristol Cooperative Society. Now this set back corner is formed with Croydon St, which historically came off Leadhouse Lane, which is now lost beneath the Croydon House development, accessed via Payne Drive.
