These two dogs were dumped near Providence and Causeway at the Public Storage facility. I first saw pictures of them posted on the Lost and Found Pets of Hillsborough County Facebook Page yesterday as seen roaming since the weekend, but it appears they have been roaming for some time now based on various sightings. I spent about 2 hours trying to befriend them yesterday afternoon, since so many people had no success and they kept running away and going underneath the fence to the preserve behind the facility. After getting them food and water at Pet Smart (they were visibly very hungry and thirsty), a friend and I went back last night and were finally able to get them. They seem to be a bonded pair, however, the Chi is definitely the alpha. Both are males and Chi is not neutered. Both very sweet and ate out of our hands. We bathed them and they were loaded with fleas, so we treated them. They were taken to Dr. Anthony this morning to check for chips and the Rotty mix has one but was never registered to anyone. Chi is not chipped. They are both very friendly towards other dogs and people - the just seem rightfully scared and act as if they have never seen the inside of a home before. They have an appointment tomorrow morning for an exam and Heartworm test. We already have a donation of food from a pet store in Valrico and two private donations of over $100 toward vet care.
