A Bankrate survey revealed that a whopping 26% of Americans between the age of 50 and 64 have nothing saved for retirement at all, and 14% of those over 65 haven’t saved anything either. Does it mean they have no 401K account? Does someone with a million dollars in their 401K qualify as having no savings? What if they have a house and a vacation house, both fully paid for? What if they can sell their house for a million dollars? In other words, no savings does not necessarily mean no assets.
