These unsolicited, uncredited pics that are rich in South African - TopicsExpress

These unsolicited, uncredited pics that are rich in South African surfing history keep arriving in my inbox. I believe that this picture was taken in Jbay in the mid sixties. Any background to fill in the details would be much appreciated. I remember Cornell Barnet wrote a book on surfing (probably the first of its kind from our shores at that time) he lives in California nowadays. John Plater (who made the final of the iconic 66 SA Champs in Durban) is still carousing the lineup in Durban. The late Shorty Bronkhorst was instrumental in introducing surfing and lifesaving to Jersey in the Channel Islands before this pic was taken. Sadly he passed away in JBay a few years ago and his bright spirit is still missed. George was a six times SA Champ who was easily the best competitive surfer of his time. He participated in multiple World Championships (he was also in that 66 SA Champs final). George carved out a career with a global corporation and currently lives in London. Help with filling in the background of Mike Hornsey and Roger ? would be great.
