While living in Los Angeles Clare began writing fan fiction using the name Cassandra Claire. However, she deleted her fan fiction from the Internet shortly before her first novel, The City of Bones, was published under the name Cassandra Clare. She is also friends with author Holly Black, and their books occasionally overlap, Clare mentioning characters from Blacks novels and vice versa, such as Val and Luis from Blacks Valiant. Clare is also credited by her publisher with creating the City of Fallen Angels treatment where a tangible letter from one character to another is attached to the back of physical copies of a book. The goal is to spur print book sales. She currently resides in Amherst, Massachusetts, with her husband, Joshua Lewis, and three cats. BOOK REPORT One night at a club, 15-year-old Clarissa Clary Fray witnesses an apparent murder by a strange teenager whom no one else can see, Jace Wayland. He tells her the victim was actually a disguised demon. The next day, after Clary sees Jace again, she returns home to find her mother Jocelyn Fray, missing and her apartment trashed and occupied by a monstrous creature (later labeled a Ravener demon). Clary defeats it but is injured... Jace finds her and takes her to his home, The Institute, an old Gothic cathedral that normal humans, called mundanes or mundies by the inhabitants, cant see, because it is concealed by a magic called glamour. After recuperating, Clary meets Jaces tutor, Hodge Starkweather, and his adoptive siblings Isabelle Lightwood and Alec Lightwood. They are Shadowhunters, who hunt demons unbeknownst to and—except for Clary—unseen by the mundane world. With the help of Silent Brother Jeremiah, a monk with magical powers, their investigation into why Clary can see them uncovers a block on her mind, keeping her memories sealed. She travels with Jace and Jeremiah to the City of Bones, where the Silent Brothers attempt to break it. Although the attempt fails, Clary gets flashes of information, particularly the name Magnus Bane. Tracing this name to a party, Clary and the Shadowhunter teens, along with her mundy best friend Simon, discover that Magnus is the High Warlock of Brooklyn, and he placed the block on Clary at the request of her mother, an ex-Shadowhunter. Every two years, Jocelyn had been sending Clary to Magnus to have her memories and Sight (ability to see what mundanes cannot) blocked, hoping to keep her safely in the dark about her true self so she could live a normal life. Magnus refuses to bring Clarys memories back, claiming it would be too difficult and dangerous, and they may return anyway, now that she knows the truth and the spell has begun to fade. During the party, Simon ignores Isabelles warnings and consumes a blue drink, which was spiked, turning him into a rat. Simon is then kidnapped by the vampires. Clary and Jace fight Valentine, who reveals that they are siblings, and that Jaces real name is Jonathan. He once more attempts to convince them to join him, but they refuse again and push him through the portal with a false Mortal Cup, and after a brief struggle the portal is destroyed by Jace. Jocelyn is rescued but remains in a coma at the hospital, where she is reunited with Luke. Clary assures Simon that although she does not love him back, somebody will. Clary heads back home and uses her powers to repair the damage done to her apartment. Shortly thereafter, Jace appears and confesses that he needs her and wants her to come back with him to the Institute. Once she agrees to go with him, Jace affirms that he does not believe that they are siblings. Clary jumps on his motorcycle with him and they drive off to their destination. In the Institute, Clary falls in love with Jace while on a romantic evening with him in the institutes greenhouse, sharing a kiss. As they kiss the second time in front of her room, Simon interrupts them by opening the door, and shakily attempts to be humorous while tentatively confronting Clary about her relationship with the Shadowhunter. She responds that they were just kissing, leading Jace to be confused and angered. Simon confesses to Clary that he loves her and always has. She is too shocked to respond, leaving the room and a heartbroken Simon. Clary discovers that the Mortal Cup is hidden inside a tarot card painted by her mother, so the group returns to her apartment to retrieve it. There, they discover Madame Dorothea has been replaced by a demon sent to steal the Cup. It is killed by Simon and Jace after critically wounding Alec, while Clary retrieves the Mortal Cup.The group returns to the Institute only to be betrayed by Hodge, who steals the Mortal Cup from Clary and summons Valentine Morgenstern. He reveals himself to be Clarys father and attempts to persuade her to join him, but she refuses and escapes with help from Luke, who is revealed to be a werewolf. Luke explains that Clary has a brother called Jonathan, and returns to the Institute with her and his pack to fight Valentine, who uses a forbidden spell to open a portal and summon an army of demons to New York. Simon and Isabelle manage to close the portal with help from Hodge, who sees the error of his ways and sacrifices himself to kill Blackwell. Meanwhile, Magnus arrives to heal the injured Alec, and Luke kills Pangborn. Believing the key to find the Mortal Cup lies within Clarys mind, Hodge instructs Jace to take Clary to the City of Bones, where fallen Shadowhunters are laid to rest, to meet Brother Jeremiah (Stephen R. Hart), a dead Shadowhunter that probes Clarys mind and learns of her connection to a powerful sorcerer, Magnus Bane (Godfrey Gao). Clary, Jace, Simon, Alec and Isabelle meet Magnus in a nightclub, where he reveals that Jocelyn hired him to block knowledge of the Shadowhunters from Clarys mind. Their conversation is interrupted when Simon is kidnapped by vampires, leading to a confrontation in a nearby hotel, in which the group is nearly killed before werewolves (that share a truce with the Shadowhunters) intervene and rescue them. Relating this to the paraphrasing because we summarize the story and we paraphrase it. It relates how those plans are well organized, their pronouns, and adjectives. They are good in writing, their imaginations are good, and they have a purpose, form and unity how it works on the readers. I conclude that is to search for her missing mother. While doing so, she is constantly shielded by a fellow shadowhunter Lace (Jamie Campbell Bower), who needs her for a mission of his own. While Clary finds the flirtatious Laces expertise at combat and insensitivity attractive, its her best friend Simon ( Robert Sheehan) who secretly harbours feelings for her. Who gets Clary and the reason behind her mothers disappearance form the plot. I recommend this book for those who loves reading fantasy, because its so amazing and they have a determination on their selves. They protect the worl from evil forces.
