They say that breaking up is hard to do. And Roscoe would be the first to tell you just how true that is. When his owners got divorced, three-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix Roscoe and his canine sibling lost their home and family. Even worse, they were surrendered to the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina. That was way back on August 13th. Fortunately, a temporary foster home was found for these two brothers. A few months ago, Long Trail Canine Rescue in Vermont was able to take Roscoes sibling. But Roscoe remained in need of rescue. Unlike his brother, Roscoe was heartworm positive. In late February, Long Trail Canine Rescue had room to take another dog. They offered to take Roscoe if his heartworm treatment could first be done. On February 28th, RADARs liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, Susan Blakeney, asked for our help, and we agreed. Roscoe received his heartworm treatment on April 1st. His bill was $100 more than expected because he had gained about 20 pounds in his foster home! RADAR supporter, Melissa Feeney, was kind enough to help assist us with his hefty cost. We learned this about Roscoe from Susan: He is very energetic and affectionate. He loves to take long walks and throw the ball around. Hes good with other dogs. Roscoe has a lot of love to give and has wonderful experience with younger kids. He is such a gentleman. He walks well on a leash. Since he is used to being a part of a family, Roscoe will have no problems adjusting to a new family!
