They say that the Greek gods were jealous of the mortals, because death made every moment of their life that much more meaningful. Or in Beryl Markhams words: Thats what makes death so hard, unsatisfied curiosity. There are a lot of things that I havent done or seen yet that have always been on my list. I havent flown in a helicopter or jumped out of a plane. I still cant scuba dive or surf or ride a motorbike. I havent been to Japan for the cherry blossom season, or Brazil for the carnival, or the Serengeti for the migration, or Cuba for everything (though I would probably relocate there permanently if I went). I havent had a family of my own yet (inshallah). Sometimes I get scared of taking a risk. Maybe with reason and maybe without. If that fear is like when I am standing at the edge of this particular cliff on this particular Greek island, wondering whether to jump because yes I might hit rocks and yes the fish will bite me because I disturbed them (even though I am one of them, Aneri can vouch that I am a mermaid), and yes I may lose my swimsuit in the process, most likely once I am in that water I will wonder what took me so long to just do it. All I need is that small moment of courage. Im terrified but its time to JUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Arthurando and Tobi youre next!)
