"They shoot from the shadows at those whose heart are right."[Psalm 11:2] --- Believers sometimes feel like practice targets for sharpshooters. David felt that way too. He complained that evil people were hiding in the shadows shooting arrows at those who tried to do right. There will always be those who long to see godly people destroyed. They shoot out slanderous words to ruin reputations or accusations designed to wound. Often they hit their mark. --- Paul warns about the most dangerous marksman in Ephesians 6, describing the spiritual armor provided by God as a protection against that enemy. Satan continually shoots "fiery arrows" of temptation at believers. His aim is good because he knows our weak spots. He prepares his custom - made ammunition for us from an arsenal of fear, doubt, lust, greed, and anything else that would lead us into sin. The only way to stop these flaming arrows is to take up our shield of faith (v. 16), Satan may have an uncanny ability to know how to attack us, but God has a supernatural way to protect us. --Author :: Dianne Neal Matthews
