They told us that our rebased economy places us as d biggest - TopicsExpress

They told us that our rebased economy places us as d biggest economy in Africa. They celebrated that fiction with funfare. We were made 2 understand that unemployment is at all time lowest ebb now. We were told that our agriculture is doing better than even d days of d groundnut pyramids. Poverty has been reduced drastically & extreme poverty is now a mere 5%. We were told that our economy supretended by a Havard trainned economist who is our minister of Finance & d co-ordinating minister of d economy is doing splendidly good. Billions of dollars direct foriegn investment is flowing in. Our economy is growing in leaps & bounds. We were told that our Roads are better & that Nigeria has never have it this good. D transformation Agenda is transformating our nation 2 an Eldorado. Some of us opined that these achievements are more in theory than practical. We observed with dismay d way our factories are relocating 2 Ghana over lack of electricity 2 power them. We notced that economy is wobbling under stragulating weight of corruption. Our Presidential jets were increased to 10 aircrafts. It has more aeroplanes that most airlines in Nigeria. About N1billion was budgetted for feeding in Aso Rock per anum. Our leaders jet all over d world in jamboree manner spending our money without restraint. Our delegates 2 any world gathering was embarrassingly d highest ever sent by any single nation.. Estcacodes are paid 2 these fortunate tag alongs. This is appart from d hotel bills, travelling expenses etc. Our Senators & house members are d highest paid in d world. Our politicians live in heaven claiming to be providing leadership 2 d inhabitants of a hell called Nigeria. Our Governors spend millions as if spending our long forgotten Kobos. Our local Government Chairmen were Lords of d mannor. Ministers are gods unto themselves. They buy cars of N220million without blinking an eye lid. N10billion used 2 hire private jets by a minister & there was nothing anybody could do about it. Anybody close 2 d seat of power is made wealthy. Obansanjo left about $19billion in our coffers. All that money is gone. Okonjo Iweala said Nigeria will withdraw $2billion out of d $4.1billion in d excess crude account 2 run d economy till 31st December 2014. What is d meaning of all these? D stark reality is that NIGERIA IS BROKE! Prices of crude oil has dropped in d international market. Our mono-product economy is about 2 suffer for it. Implicitly Nigeria has no savings 4 d rainy days. But, d rainy days are here. This is period for austerity measure, SAP & belt tightening policies. This is d time that all discerning minds will know that we were being fed with lies all along. Fraglant lies. Deception of d highest order. Nigeria could not diverse her economy even under d very nose of d former vice President of d world Bank. Any extra dollar made from oil would quickly be shared up by d Federal Government & d State Governors. Spendthrift was fashionable, no thought 4 2moro. Now, 2moro is here. Someone should help me tell Ngozi that moving d benchmark figure of d price per barrel of crude oil from $78 to $73 is still unrealistic. D benchmark 4 d 2015 budget shoul realistically be at $65. America is still seriously exploiting their shale oil. Their home reserve is still too huge 4 them 2 bother about increasing importation soon. Other counties are exploiting other sources of energy too. D OPEC members are not cuting down supply. So d prices are not likely 2 go up soon. It may even go further on a Southward journey. This is d grim reality of our time. Nigeria was a hard country 2 live in. It will be a harder country 2 survive in (God forbid sha). We needs Gods intervention. So help us God. Goodluck 2 me. Goodluck 2 u. Goodluck 2 Nigeria. ...(A reflection of an unconventional mind)
