Things I learnt tonight. • It’s good to do gigs for nice people. Thank you Hayley & Chris. • Trust my own judgment building a set rather than listening to a myriad of instructions and requests and performing like a headless chicken. • Expect the unexpected. This evening a punter coming behind the desk standing on the power switch turning power off to the external hard-drive, laptop & controller. • Stay calm in a crisis. The music stopped, the lights continued and the laptop couldn’t find the drive that had been incorrectly shut down. Luckily I’d prepared a back-up set list to tablet and completed the evening djing from the tablet and beatpad. • Enjoy myself and celebrate the positives. The venue liked what I did and asked for my card. I managed to play all the requests except one despite being reduced to my tablet. Sorry Rachel & Gareth it was queued up ready to play when the power was cut I managed to play their other request Blister In The Sun by The Violent Femmes.
