Things can get worse.....take the recent spate of misfortunes- minor ones, true, but deeply annoying-which befell my friend. One morning she was opening a new bottle of cologne when it slipped out of her hand. By the time she had mopped up the mess, she was running late for work. She decided not to take the jeep and instead took a taxi. She paid the cabbie and dashed into her office, and realized that shed left her fon in the taxi. Of course, she was still lucky. Other people lose more than their cologne and fon in the space of an hour; some people lose their loved-ones, their money, and their hair in the same day.....
