Things were going just a bit too smoothly. I packed everything I wanted into one mid-sized suitcase and carry on tote. I managed to avoid the mob scene at Southwest by finding the under-utilized curbside check-in point at the north end of the departure terminal. Most miraculously, I sailed through security. I am usually treated like a drug smuggler and that is no exaggeration. I boarded in the A group, aisle seat exit row, middle seat empty. I found the inner calm that had been eluding me about this mother/daughter trek to Hong Kong and Phuket on which I am embarking. First leg--to NYC for the rendezvous. Tomorrow afternoon--we are off to Hong Kong. Well, maybe. I am presently at Midway sitting on a broken aircraft. Flight was scheduled to depart at 7:30 am. Present status unknown. Good grief.
