Thinking Outside The Square Those who wear the military uniform - TopicsExpress

Thinking Outside The Square Those who wear the military uniform do understand the need for personal sacrifice in the interest of the nation. It has always been so in the Profession of Arms. Equally soldiers are also very alert to the familiar saying “fair go” yet when such words are argued as a reasonable request, politicians use spin and smoke screens. Today, thanks to political incompetence, past and present, the Land of Oz is in a bit of strife. Ironically it is at a time we reflect on deeds when our nation stood very, very tall. It is also a time when Government is once more using the military as the whipping boy. The current decision to use the lash in dire economic circumstances is an example of selecting easy victims who by the very nature of their profession will stiffen their backs and soldier on. Equally, past warriors will continue to curse at political betrayals that have impact on them and families. Even more infuriating is the hypocrisy constantly demonstrated by politicians who shrug shoulders and blame others but always stepping forward for photo opportunities and showering garlands on battle weary troops before telling them to close the door on the way out. It really is rubbing salt into the wounds and one wonders; just how many comrades in final anguish decided such betrayal was the last straw before leaving us? Change is essential in the Armed Forces but to tamper and dilute proven procedures associated with efficiency, discipline, teamwork, mental and physical toughness plus good old fashioned pride for the sake of dollars, political correctness, gimmicks and other infectious stupidity defies the very basics of preparing for war. Yet, thanks to political interference by those who do not understand even the fundamentals of soldiering, it is happening. Our dedicated representatives have been talking and negotiating for years. Each time promises are made, betrayal quickly follows. It is a familiar merry go round. Thought should be given by a central organisation such as the Alliance Defence Service Organisation to identify, select and support ex-military candidates for future Senate elections. Any future Senator/s with personal military experience would be an asset and make a significant contribution to redress wrongs but even more importantly to defend those precious values of a way of life which we enjoy as Australians and are being slowly eroded within. Values that are the heart and soul of our nation and for which many generations have sweated blood and often died to defend. The following hasty scrawl is but some lines of thought in considering strategy to achieve that elusive “Fair Go.” and protect our values. Thinking Outside The Square Politicians once again have the whip ready to use on the military So bite the bullet and say goodbye to leadership and integrity Just look around, cos the evidence is clearly there to see Including a so called pay rise to the Services for future years Gawd, it’s simply clumsy spin which really means financial arrears They plan the same for old soldiers who they treat as fools Yet no intent to change their own generous salary or pension rules Surely it is time to end the talking and take up the fight United and together for what is fair and right There is power to be used in the Senate and I’ve said it before It is in that place where we can win this war At the last election, half-baked idiots with no purpose got in So why not proven leaders of our own to compete and win Select ex- military from each State so when we vote again The odds are there will be Senate seats to gain Not only for a fair go but we urgently need to sort this country out We’re drowning in political incompetence, just look about Would past generations for today’s Oz proudly cheer and shout? It’s time to choose disciplined leaders with the Nation in mind The ideal HQ is ADSO for strategy, policy and candidates to find No bickering or “them and us”, just our beloved country in mind If it becomes a goer, many of us could pledge to financially help out We owe it to those before and after us and that’s what it’s all about The land of Oz comes first and that’s why we served No more talk, time to select an FUP** if we still have the nerve GMansford-November2014 *ADSO--- Alliance Defence Service Organisation **FUP----Forming up place where a unit deploys and in this case, preparation to advance
