Thinking about Ebola... What does the social scholar of diagnosis think about in reference to the Ebola virus? We discussed this earlier on this blog, but events of last evening give us more food for thought about the social consequences of diagnosis. Protesters have apparently attacked an Ebola quarantine centre. The reasons for the attack are as yet unclear: The protesters believe Ebola is a hoax?; want the potentially contagious patients removed from the quarter?; have used the social concern about the diagnosis as a means to advance other agendas? Ebola is thus a platform for social action, whatever that action might be. Do you have other examples of disease and social action? Diagnosis and social unrest? Has anyone ever heard of diagnosis riots? bbc/news/world-africa-28827091
