Thinking of my best friend today : - ( Lisa Rose Uterano Feb 5 1960 - Oct 17 1993 Biggest blue eyes and golden curls, and tight levis jeans and Frye boots. Her dad was a Vice President for Atlantic Records in NYC, hand-picked by Jerry Wexler out of a record store that he worked at in the 1960s. Mick Jagger loved her dad, threw him a surprise birthday party one year. I write a lot about Lisa in my memoir American Girl. When Lisa discovered CBGB through me and loved it her dad told the office and it sent shock waves of horror! They knew the days of Yes and ELP were coming to an end. You can thank me and Lisa for that! Yes you can!! My copy of the Stones Black n Blue was free of course, and she called me Hannah (from the Memory Motel) from then on till her death. Even in letters once I’d moved away, Dear Hannah, .... in seriousness and in joke.. “she took my guitar and she began to play, she sang a song to me stuck right in my brain..she’s got a mind of her own and she use it well” That was before I wrote all my songs, formed all my bands, and grew up to be a Rebel. That was her biggest ‘spell’ I guess. Lisa was a closet heroin addict, and a closet lesbian, and some say a closet witch. Oh boy. No photos, not allowed. The dope got her in the end.... I don’t have to miss her, sometimes I feel she is still around! I’m going to post some songs for her here.....
