Third Annual Jimmie Girard Memorial Blood Drive Sat, November 30th 9am-1pm! The Third Annual Jimmie Girard Memorial Blood Drive, conducted by the Central Jersey Blood Center, is scheduled for Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Manasquan Fire House on Parker Avenue from 9am to 1pm. An appointment is not necessary. The Blood Drive is sponsored in memory of Jimmie Girard, a lifelong resident who passed away in 2005 at 24 years of age after a 19 month battle with Hodgkins Lymphoma. Girard was a 1999 graduate of Manasquan High School and a starting member of the famous undefeated and untied MHS 1998 State Football Champions. Hodgkins Lymphoma is a very serious form of blood cancer which attacks lymph nodes. Frequent blood transfusions are necessary to enable these cancer victims to endure and continue their chemotherapy treatments. A blood donation is the best gift one can offer a cancer patient.
