Third day in Chester and things are starting to look up! I got a few issues sorted. People are bending over backwards to help me! I went into the Welfare Office yesterday to ask a question. They asked me how I was going with my leg etc. and I promptly burst into tears (Oops! Did I really do that? I very rarely cry so I was astonished). Anyway, it got the ball rolling. Last night I met the resident assistant in my building who turns out is living in the room right next to mine! Jane is 43 and works full time in the university and is an RA at night. She stayed for over an hour and we had a good chat. She showed me how to open my window so Im not uncomfortable (the central heating in the building is too hot for me overnight so I felt like I was in a sauna!) and she organized for two of the security porters, who are first aid trained, to come to my room and dress my leg after Id had my first shower (and not just an APC) in four days. They were lovely too. I had a great sleep last night, my first proper sleep since arriving and a doctor is phoning me this morning to make an appointment so I can organize ongoing treatment/supervision of my leg. Im starting to feel like a new woman!
