Thirty years ago this month Duran Duran released The Wild Boys, with Lewis Leathers jackets worn by each band member - in the video and on the series of record sleeves. The song and video for The Wild Boys were inspired by a William S. Burroughs novel and at the height of eighties excess cost more than a million dollars. Director Russell Mulcahy (seen below with bassist John Taylor) created the video as a teaser for a full length film, which never came to fruition, but Mulcahy went on to make the Highlander movies and Resident Evil: Extinction. Watch The Wild Boys video here bit.ly/TheWildBoys As you can see, the Twin Track Bronx jackets were heavily customised with armour, jewels, chain mail, and sacrilege to many of you, Simon Le Bons had a whole sleeve removed! All very reminiscent of the post apocalyptic vision portrayed a couple of years earlier in Mad Max 2:The Road Warrior. Also pictured in the series of images below is keyboard player Nick Rhodes jacket (which he himself decorated by hand) in a Chilean museum celebrating the eighties - alongside the toile for Princess Dianas wedding dress! Check out the Twin Track Bronx No. 440 by Lewis Leathers in its purest form - available made to measure from our London shop or via the online store bit.ly/LLTTBronx
