[This Day in WCW History] The 20-Man WCW BattleBowl - WCW - TopicsExpress

[This Day in WCW History] The 20-Man WCW BattleBowl - WCW Starrcade [December 29th, 1991] After the ten tag team matches had their winner, WCW Starrcade ‘91 ended with all the winners being put together for a twenty-man battle royal. If things were kept like that, this main event could have been something spectacular… but it’s not always simple when World Championship Wrestling is involved. BattleBowl was a battle royal with TWO rings. The object was to throw your opponent into Ring Two where a secondary battle royal would take place. From that point on, in order to be eliminated, a wrestler must be thrown over the ropes of Ring Two and since everyone started in Ring One, you can see where things got confusing involved, fans included. To make matters worse, Lex Luger and Sting were the last two men in the match, and they decided to spend a majority of the final minutes brawling outside the ring… which was perfectly legal since neither one had been technically thrown over the ropes of Ring Two by an opponent. Funnily enough, this entire mess was actually included on the Starrcade DVD that WWE put out a while back.
