This December day... I find comfort in a hot shower first thing in the morning, followed by a hot bowl of porridge that I stirred lots of blueberries in to. I find comfort in kissing Birdy in that fatty space under her ear, where she still smells of baby and milk. She is on the cusp of hitting that stage where she would rather crawl away and do mischief than cuddle with me and so I am trying to suck as much squishy mushy baby love out of her as possible. I find comfort in writing and rewriting, working and reworking, tweaking and retweaking the childrens story I am currently in the throes of. I dont know if it will ever see the light of day or if anyone will even mildly like it, let alone publish it, but *I* like it quite a bit. Ive grown fond of the characters and the story line and that is pleasing enough. I find comfort in talking to my sister and looking at pictures of my brothers baby. Typing those words my brothers baby still gives my heart a little leap. I cant quite believe it. I find comfort in the knowledge that I have ordered five, yes FIVE, books for myself and theyve already been shipped and in the next few days or weeks, I will have delicious new reading material in my home. What are your little comforts, not overall in life, just in particular, just for today?
